Scholar Athlete Award

The Michigan High School Athletic Association sponors the Scholar Athlete Award. To be nominated for this award is an honor in itself. The judges are faced with the extremely difficult task of choosing 24 recipients from over 2,500 entries. While only a few winners can be selected, all entrants and their schools have a lot to be proud of. Caledonia's nominees for this award who have earned this special recognition are:

OK Gold Conference Scholar Athletes

To Earn the O.K. Gold Scholar Athlete Award, athletes must meet the following criteria:

  • A Senior who has maintained a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 through the first semester of their senior year.

  • The athlete must have participated in at least four MHSAA athletic seasons during his or her high school career.

  • The athlete must have earned at least one varsity letter during their Senior year.

  • The athlete must have represented our school with pride and sportsmanship.

Detroit Free Press Scholar Athlete Awards

The Detroit Free Prss recognizes Schoarl Athletes from around the state. They are looking for an athlete who best combines athletic and academic excellence at each high school in the state. Detroit Free Press will publish a special high school athletic section on June 5th to recognize these outstanding individuals and their accomplishments. Caledonia's 2012 Recipient is Thacker Hisey.

Male & Female Athlete of
the Year Award

The "Male & Female Athlete of the Year" award is voted on by the Varsity Coaches, Brett Knoop, our trainer, and our HS Administrators. This year's recipients are:

Kyle Schutt & Alexis Miller

will each receive a framed certificate
and a plague with their pictures will be placed in
the CHS Hall of Fame as well as a
$500 scholarship from the Caledonia Athletic Boosters.
