NHS is a great opportunity to get recognized
as a dedicated student.
Students who are members of NHS must portray
Character, & Scholarship.
To become a part of NHS, information about your previous scholarship, leadership, character and service should be submitted to the Caledonia National Honor Society Faculty Council. All application materials and directions are included in this packet. Read it completely and carefully. Students are inducted in to NHS in the spring of their Junior year and will have membership for the duration of their junior and senior years.
There are four pillars of the National Honor Society. To be a member of this organization you must prove that you are exemplary in each of these areas.
- You must have and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5.
- You must accumulate and verify at least 40 hours of community service during
your high school career prior to acceptance to NHS. Hours served during middle achool
do not count. You may start counting hours in the beginning of the summer before your
freshman year. Interim service projects or anything for which you have received credit or
payment do not count. A spreadsheet for documenting your hours is included
- You must have served in at least one leadership role in school, church, the
community, etc. during your high school career. Verify your role(s) by getting the
leadership form signed. Some examples of leadership are being a captain of an athletic
team, a section leader in music classes, a Sunday school teacher, a youth group leader,
or a student council member.
- You must demonstrate good character by doing what is right. You must be a
model student by not smoking, drinking, stealing, taking drugs, skipping class, cheating,
bullying others, getting bad reports from teachers, etc.
